About Me

Here is Xu Yi (Ian, 许逸).
I am a recent graduate with a Master of Applied Psychology (Psychological & Behavioral BIG Data) from Beijing Normal University. My latest research reconceptualizes self‑control as the dynamic interplay between depletion and activation, offering a fresh perspective to explain the variability and replication issues in ego‑depletion studies. Beginning September 2025 I will join the Joint AI & Psychology Laboratory (a collaboration between The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen and University of Science and Technology of China) as a full‑time research assistant to explore the intersection of AI and cognitive science, Supervised by Dr. Zhicheng Lin.
Research Interests
- Computational Modeling of Cognition – building formal models to explain complex cognitive processes.
- Cognitive Science & Artificial Intelligence – using AI and computational tools to investigate human cognition and mental processes, and applying cognitive insights to develop more human‑like AI systems.
- AI and Human Behavior – exploring how human behaviour influences and is influenced by intelligent systems.
- Metascience – studying the methods and practices of science itself.
